ZOOM PLAN OBJECTIVES
The program aims to achieve four primary goals through improved mechanics:
- Mechanics: The core of the plan is to perfect the pitcher's form, helping them execute the correct movements consistently.
- Reduce Injury Risk: By teaching safe and sustainable mechanics that properly engage the kinetic chain, the plan ensures that force is distributed correctly throughout the body, minimizing stress on vulnerable joints like the elbow and shoulder.
- Enhance Command: A repeatable motion, built on consistent and correct mechanics, leads to a consistent release point. This is key for achieving greater accuracy and control over pitches.
- Boost Velocity: The plan's focus on optimized mechanics allows a pitcher to efficiently transfer energy from their lower body to their upper body, generating more power and increasing pitch speed without putting extra strain on the arm.
THE STEPS & LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
The plan follows a structured process:
- Guidance: Coach Skip provides targeted guidance to refine the pitcher's mechanics, with a specific focus on achieving precise control and stability at the foot plant.
- Tailored Drills: A personalized drill is introduced to help the pitcher practice and internalize the new motion.
