Foot Position and Command

Foot Position

The way your feet contact the ground determines your balance, direction, and how efficiently your body moves through the delivery.

Proper foot position creates the foundation for your glove hand to activate your lower body and guide the baseball to the target.

When your heels are aligned with your target and approximately one baseball width apart, your body begins in a balanced position, your glove hand moves with purpose, your hips engage naturally, and your lower body leads the delivery.

Instead of searching for the target with your arm, your entire body works together to deliver the baseball.

Incorrect Foot Position

When your foot position is incorrect, your body immediately falls out of balance, your glove hand no longer leads the sequence, your lower body loses direction, and your throwing arm is forced to compensate.

The result is inconsistent command, forced velocity, and a delivery that’s difficult to repeat.

Pitch Smart

A balanced starting position allows your body to move in order and throw the baseball one movement at a time.
