Back Knee, Glove Work, and Command

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

You Don’t Want Your Back Knee to Begin Over Your Back Foot

Your Front Foot beginning wider than your Shoulders means your Back Knee activates your motion with your Back Knee over your Back Foot.

When you lift your Front Foot to complete your Front Leg lift, your weight ends up over your Back Foot.

With your weight over your Back Foot, you move toward your target with your Body needing to get in balance.

You regain balance only when your Front Foot hits the ground.

At the point your Front Foot hits the ground, your Throwing Arm acts alone to deliver the ball to your target.

The fact your Throwing Arm works alone means you lose your Lower Body, and your target area expands.

Your Back Knee Begins Behind Your Back Foot

Your Front Foot beginning under your Hips puts your Back Knee behind your Back Foot.

Your Front Foot lift ends with your Leg to the Home Plate side of your Front Hip.

Your Lower Body prompts your Glove Arm to trigger your Throwing Action.

The ball goes to your target with uncanny regularity.

Better Back Knee Action

Your Back Knee being to the second base side of your Back Foot promotes exceptional command.

The Pro Pitching Institute teaches you a Back Knee position to promote your command, or your instruction is free … No questions… No hassles… and no hard feelings.

Foot Work, Glove Work, and Command

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

The correct Foot Distance promotes great Glove Work and exceptional command.

Your Foot work

When your Foot Distance between your Feet is greater than one baseball width, your weight goes on your Back Foot.

From the Back Foot, your Throwing Arm moves your weight from your Back Foot to your Front.

Instead of getting involved with your command, this motion prompts your Throwing Arm to be engaged with your motion’s balance.

Your Glove Work

When your Arm is used to balance your motion, your Glove Arm reacts to your Throwing Shoulder.

Your Throwing Arm Shoulder comes to your target and your Glove Work path follows your Throwing Arm.

Your Glove Work remains inconsequential and ineffective.

Your Command

You change your Foot Positioning, and your point of balance is at a point that’s directly in front of your Back Foot.

Now, your Glove Work controls your Throwing Arm.

The ball goes into your target with uncanny regularity, your Throwing Arm always shows fastball speed, but the ball takes on the look of your Grip.

Better Positioning

For your Glove Work to control your command, you need your Foot Positioning to be in balance.

The Pro Pitching Institute teaches you to begin your motion with your Feet close together, or your instruction is free … No questions… No hassles… and no hard feelings.

What Does “Good” Pitching Look Like?

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

When a Person plays with a rubber band-powered, balsa wood toy airplane, they wind the propeller, and, when they let the propeller go, the rubber band supplies extra thrust.

The plane’s rubber band mirrors the twisting force an elite Pitcher creates when they end their stride with their hips and shoulders at opposing angles.

Like the rubber band powers the plane’s propeller, the torque their lower body generates spontaneously whips their throwing hand into release and sends their fastballs directly into their intended target.

Why Do Most Coaches Fail to Teach “Good”?

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

Most Coaches miss the fact that, when a Person is perched on one foot, the Individual’s hips and shoulders move as one.

Few Coaches seem to realize that, when a Person stands on one foot and is asked to move their hips, their hips won’t turn (can’t turn) until the Individual moves their shoulders.

Without this understanding, most Pitching Coaches allow their Students to end their front leg lift with their weight over their back foot.

They force the Pitcher’s hips and shoulders to move down the mound as a single unit, and effectively eliminate the lower body torque the Pitcher needs to send their fastballs directly into their intended target.

Balance, Command, and Your Glove Hand Movement

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you Glove Hand movement, balance, and command.

Preliminaries

Your Starting Position impacts your Glove Hand movement.

The right Glove Hand movement indicates balance.

However, when your Glove Hand merely reacts to your Starting Position, your Body moves out of balance and your command suffers.

No Glove Hand Movement

With bad Glove Hand movement, your Glove Hand reacts to your Hips movement.

Your Glove Hand takes on a path of its own and fires the ball to a point between your natural release point and the spot where you want your ball to go.

Your Glove Hand release places the ball in a location where the Hitter drives the ball, or lets the pitch go.

The Right Glove Hand Movement

Your good Starting Position focuses your weight just in front of Back Foot and your Front Leg lift keeps your weight just in front of your Back Foot.

Your Body’s good position means your Glove Hand drives your Throwing Hand into release.

Your Glove Hand Palm moving up takes the ball into your target with uncanny regularity!

Accomplishing This?

First-Class Posture

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you “Posture”.

Poor Posture

When you begin with your Shoulders anything about level, your body makes an autocorrection.

Your natural adjustment skews your command.

Good Posture

Have your Shoulders level and your command improves.

Your good posture builds an advantageous location.

Hand Separation

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you Hand Separation.

What Not to Do!

Your Hands separating after your Stride stops your Lower Body from triggering your location.

Without your Lower Body, you use your Throwing Hand to command your pitches.

What to Do!

An ideal Hand Separation has your Hands separating before you begin your Stride.

Your Lower Body engages, and the ball goes to your target with uncanny regularity.

Level Hips

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you how to level your hips.

Your Hips

Uneven Hips at the top of your Front Leg Lift take your motion out of balance.

At the top of your Front Leg lift, you want your Front Hip to be even with your Back Hip.

How?

You get your Hips to be level by keeping your Front Knee in front of your Front Hip and your Front Foot in front of Back Foot.

In this way, your Hips are level, and the ball goes to your target with uncanny regularity.

Accomplishing This?

Want to end your Starting Position with your Hips level?

The Pro Pitching Institute teaches you to manage your Hips, or your instruction is free … No questions… No hassles… and no hard feelings.
