Foot Work, Glove Work, and Command

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

The correct Foot Distance promotes great Glove Work and exceptional command.

Your Foot work

When your Foot Distance between your Feet is greater than one baseball width, your weight goes on your Back Foot.

From the Back Foot, your Throwing Arm moves your weight from your Back Foot to your Front.

Instead of getting involved with your command, this motion prompts your Throwing Arm to be engaged with your motion’s balance.

Your Glove Work

When your Arm is used to balance your motion, your Glove Arm reacts to your Throwing Shoulder.

Your Throwing Arm Shoulder comes to your target and your Glove Work path follows your Throwing Arm.

Your Glove Work remains inconsequential and ineffective.

Your Command

You change your Foot Positioning, and your point of balance is at a point that’s directly in front of your Back Foot.

Now, your Glove Work controls your Throwing Arm.

The ball goes into your target with uncanny regularity, your Throwing Arm always shows fastball speed, but the ball takes on the look of your Grip.

Better Positioning

For your Glove Work to control your command, you need your Foot Positioning to be in balance.

The Pro Pitching Institute teaches you to begin your motion with your Feet close together, or your instruction is free … No questions… No hassles… and no hard feelings.

Foot Position, Glove Work, and Command

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet. My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach good Foot Position, exceptional Glove Work, and pinpoint command.

Preliminaries

Your motion depends on your Foot Positioning.

The correct Foot Positioning promotes great Glove Work and exceptional command.

However, when your Foot Positioning is off, your Body moves out of balance, your Glove Work is reactionary, and your command suffers.

Your Foot Position

Your good Front and Back Heels produce balance.

With your Heels too far apart, your motion loses its balance, and your Glove Work becomes nonexistent.

However, your Heels in line with your target and one baseball width apart keep your motion in balance, your Glove Hand promotes your motion, and your command produces with uncanny regularity.

Your Glove Work

Your Glove Work takes your Body out of balance.

Most important is that your Glove Work causes your Lower Body to open and land your stride.

Your Lower Body drives your Throwing Action, and your Throwing Action takes the ball directly to your target.

Need Your Foot Positioning?

If you want your Body to be in balance and drive your pitch, the Pro Pitching Institute is here for you.

The Pro Pitching Institute teaches you to begin your motion with your Feet one baseball width apart on every pitch, or your instruction is free … No questions… No hassles… and no hard feelings.

What Does “Good” Pitching Look Like?

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

When a Person plays with a rubber band-powered, balsa wood toy airplane, they wind the propeller, and, when they let the propeller go, the rubber band supplies extra thrust.

The plane’s rubber band mirrors the twisting force an elite Pitcher creates when they end their stride with their hips and shoulders at opposing angles.

Like the rubber band powers the plane’s propeller, the torque their lower body generates spontaneously whips their throwing hand into release and sends their fastballs directly into their intended target.

Why Do Most Coaches Fail to Teach “Good”?

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

Most Coaches miss the fact that, when a Person is perched on one foot, the Individual’s hips and shoulders move as one.

Few Coaches seem to realize that, when a Person stands on one foot and is asked to move their hips, their hips won’t turn (can’t turn) until the Individual moves their shoulders.

Without this understanding, most Pitching Coaches allow their Students to end their front leg lift with their weight over their back foot.

They force the Pitcher’s hips and shoulders to move down the mound as a single unit, and effectively eliminate the lower body torque the Pitcher needs to send their fastballs directly into their intended target.

Throwing Hand Control, Balance, and Command

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you Throwing Hand movement, balance, and command.

Preliminaries

Your Starting Position impacts your Throwing Hand.

The correct Throwing Hand movement promotes balance and command.

However, when your Throwing Hand merely reacts to your Starting Position, your Body moves out of balance, and your command suffers.

Poor Throwing Hand Movement

When your Front Leg is behind your Front Hip, your weight is over your Back Foot, and your Front Leg is forced to move first.

Your Front Leg takes you out of your Starting Position, and your Hands keep your Body in balance.

Your Hands keeping your Body in balance has your Throwing Hand acting on its own.

Each different pitch you throw will have a slightly different release point and arm speed.

Good Throwing Hand Control

However, when your Front Leg is even with your Front Hip, your weight is center right in front of your Back Foot, and things change dramatically.

Your Glove Hand takes your motion out of balance and fires the ball to your target with uncanny regularity.

No matter the grip, your Throwing Hand keeps the batter guessing about the pitch by showing the Hitter a constant fastball speed!

Glove Hand Palm, Balance, and Command

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you Glove Hand Palm, balance, and command.

Preliminaries

Your Starting Position impacts your Glove Hand Palm.

The correct Glove Hand Palm movement indicates balance.

However, when your Glove Hand Palm merely reacts to your Starting Position, your Body moves out of balance, and your command suffers.

Poor Glove Hand Palm Movement

When you begin your motion with your Front Knee to the Second Base side of your Front Hip, your weight is entirely over your Back Foot.

Your Body recognizes this arrangement and reacts with your Throwing Hand taking over your motion.

Your Throwing Hand works by itself to bring the ball to a point between where you want the ball to go and one your Body wants.

Good Glove Hand Palm Movement

When you begin your motion with your Front Knee in front of your Front Hip, your weight is just in front of your Back Foot.

Your Body recognizes your Starting Position and reacts with your Glove Hand Palm driving the ball into the target.

Your Throwing Hand works because of your Glove Hand Palm and finds the target with uncanny regularity.

Balance, Command, and Your Glove Hand Movement

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you Glove Hand movement, balance, and command.

Preliminaries

Your Starting Position impacts your Glove Hand movement.

The right Glove Hand movement indicates balance.

However, when your Glove Hand merely reacts to your Starting Position, your Body moves out of balance and your command suffers.

No Glove Hand Movement

With bad Glove Hand movement, your Glove Hand reacts to your Hips movement.

Your Glove Hand takes on a path of its own and fires the ball to a point between your natural release point and the spot where you want your ball to go.

Your Glove Hand release places the ball in a location where the Hitter drives the ball, or lets the pitch go.

The Right Glove Hand Movement

Your good Starting Position focuses your weight just in front of Back Foot and your Front Leg lift keeps your weight just in front of your Back Foot.

Your Body’s good position means your Glove Hand drives your Throwing Hand into release.

Your Glove Hand Palm moving up takes the ball into your target with uncanny regularity!

Balance and Your Starting Position

Pro Pitching Institute is one of the top 100 baseball blogs on the Internet.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you balance and your Starting Position.

Preliminaries

Level Shoulders indicates balance and Shoulders with tilt means your Body is out of balance.

Titled Shoulders

In your Starting Position, any sort of Shoulder tilt means your Body compensates for an imbalance.

When you go into your motion, your Throwing Arm adjusts for the imbalance by expanding your target line.

The ball goes somewhere between your natural release point and the spot where you want your ball to go.

You run the risk of the ball missing your target.

Level Shoulders

When your Shoulders are level, your Throwing Hand miraculously stays in line with your target.

Your ball goes into your target with great consistency, and you locate pitches with uncanny regularity.

My name is Coach Skip and I’m about to teach you Glove Hand action.

Little Glove Hand Action

An undisciplined Glove Hand fails to activate your Lower Body.

You get fewer pitches to travel to your target.

Glove Hand Action

Your weight distribution at the top of your Front Leg lift prompts your Glove Arm to activate your Lower Body.

You send your pitch to your target with uncanny regularity.
